The Cukier, Goldstein-Goren Foundation, aware of the need to support Jewish cultural activity also outside Israel
as a way to prevent assimilation and maintain strong cultural and spiritual ties with the State of Israel, has
offered its assistance to the thriving Jewish community of Milan, Italy, by creating a permanent endowment fund
to provide ongoing support for the operation of the Jewish school in Milan and the advancement of Jewish cultural
activities within the community.
It also has given a generous contribution towards the establishment of the new Administrative Center of the Jewish community of Milan. The Goldstein-Goren Judaica Center at the Univerita’ Statale in Milan was established in November 1996. This is the first university center for Jewish studies in Italy. Student enrollment in the courses offered by the Center is increasing yearly and in academic year 2000 the first students majoring in one of the subjects offered by the Center, History of Jewish Philosophy, graduated. |
